A studio of one (and a few trusted hands).

Three Acres is run by Brendan Quigley, a Shopify and WordPress developer based in Peterborough, Ontario. The studio takes its name from a small farm metaphor: a few intentional plots of work, tended carefully, instead of a sprawling estate that nobody can keep up with.

Brendan started Three Acres in 2022 with a simple thesis — that small ecommerce founders deserve a real practitioner on the other end of the email, not a rotating cast of project managers. Five years on, the format hasn't changed. Most clients come in for a single project and stay on a monthly membership.

When the studio takes on more work than one developer can carry, it brings in a small bench of trusted contractors that Brendan has worked with for years. There is no sales team. There is no "discovery process" disguising a quote. There's a 20-minute call, a clear scope, and a Basecamp board.

Outside of the studio, Brendan plays in a few rec sport leagues, builds Lego with his kids, and is finally at the point where he can fix most things on his own house.
